  • Baking Soda - Baking soda is cheap and completely natural. Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with a cup of water. Baking soda will help to neutralize the acid. Baking soda contains sodium; if you're on a low-sodium diet, consult your doctor.
  • Sugar-free gum - Gum helps to produce saliva. Saliva dilutes acids, so if you increase the amount of saliva produced after a meal, it can help to prevent acid production. Chew a stick of gum for 30 minutes to relieve heartburn.
  • Banana- Did you know bananas have natural antacids? To help with acid reflux, start eating a banana every day. If you don't have a banana on hand, an apple will suffice.

You can also use steep raw ginger root, dried ginger root, or ginger tea bags in boiling water to make ginger tea.
  • Changes in Lifestyle- If you're overweight, making small dietary changes and increasing physical activity can help relieve heartburn. Experiment with avoiding foods that cause heartburn, such as fatty or spicy foods, caffeine, chocolate, or carbonated beverages, to name a few. By removing these from your diet, you may be able to eliminate the problem.
