Halim Seeds, are also known as Aliv or Garden Cress seeds which are gaining popularity nowadays. These tiny red colour seeds are highly nutritious and quite beneficial. It has benefits like treating anaemia, boosting immunity & managing weight. It is also healthy for lactating mothers, as the seeds are a rich source of alkaloids, which helps to improve women's hormones, which helps in maintaining maternal milk production. So apart from the benefits, these seeds are tasty and we can make the following recipes from the same:

1. Halim Seeds Pudding

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup Milk A pinch of Cardamom powder
  2. 1 tbsp Sugar
  3. 1 tbsp True Element Halim Seeds
  4. 1 tsp Ghee 1 tbsp
  5. Daily Dose Trail Mix
  6. A few saffron strands soaked in milk
  7. A pinch of Nutmeg powder Fresh Fruits of your choice.

Method:

  1. Heat a pan and dry roast Halim seeds in it.
  2. Remove from the pan and keep it aside In the same pan add ghee.
  3. Roast the daily dose trail mix until the nuts turn golden brown and berries swell up.
  4. Remove it from the pan and keep it aside.
  5. In the same pan add milk and let it come to a boil.
  6. Add sugar, nutmeg powder, cardamom powder, saffron and mix well.
  7. Once sugar dissolves, add the roasted Halim seeds. Let the Halim seeds cook well in milk.
  8. Halim seeds swell up when fully cooked.
  9. Turn off the flame and add the roasted daily dose trail mix.
  10. Pour the pudding into the serving bowl and let it chill in the fridge for sometime


2. Halim Seeds Laddoo

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup Halim Seeds
  2. 1 tbsp Ghee
  3. 1 tbsp Daily Dose Trail Mix
  4. A pinch of cardamom powder
  5. A pinch of nutmeg powder
  6. 1/2 cup Jaggery (grated or powdered)
  7. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  8. 1 tbsp roasted peanut powder

Method :

  1. In a bowl, add water and soak Halim seeds for 1 hour.
  2. They should swell up. Meanwhile, heat a pan and add ghee to it.
  3. Add daily dose trail mix and roast well until the nuts turn brown and berries swell up.
  4. Remove from the pan and keep aside.
  5. Heat a pan and add jaggery and water in equal quantities.
  6. Let the jaggery melt.
  7. Try to get one string consistency of jaggery syrup.
  8. Add soaked Halim seeds and coconut to it.
  9. Add the nutmeg powder and cardamom powder.
  10. Mix everything and ensure no lumps are formed.
  11. Let the mixture come together and become thick.
  12. Turn the gas off and let the mixture cool down slightly.
  13. Add dry fruits and nuts and mix well.
  14. Make lemon sized balls out of the mixture.
  15. You can refrigerate the laddoos if you want.


3. Halim Seeds Kheer 

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cup True Elements Halim Seeds
  2. 1 tsp ghee
  3. 1 tbsp Almonds and Cashews ( You can add other nuts and raisins too)
  4. 1 cup milk
  5. 2 tbsp Sugar

Method :

  1. Heat a pan and dry roast Halim seeds for 4-5 minutes.
  2. Remove from the pan and keep aside.
  3. In the same pan, add ghee and add nuts and roast them until golden brown.
  4. Remove from the pan and keep aside.
  5. In the same pan, add milk and let it come to a boil
  6. Add sugar and let it dissolve
  7. Add roasted Halim seeds and let them cook.
  8. Halim seeds would swell up so the kheer would have a slight gel-like consistency.
  9. Add the nuts and serve the kheer warm.


4. Halim Coconut Cooler

Ingredients:

  1. 1 tbsp True Elements Halim Seeds
  2. 1 1/2 glass fresh coconut water
  3. 1 tsp Lemon juice 4-5 mint leaves
  4. 1 tbsp honey

Method :

  1. In a bowl, add Halim seeds and soak them in 1/2 glass coconut water for about half an hour.
  2. In another glass, add mint leaves and muddle them to extract the flavours.
  3. Add lemon juice and honey and mix well.
  4. Add soaked Halim seeds. And mix well.
  5. Top it with coconut water and ice.
  6. Serve chilled.


5. Halim Seeds Mojito

Ingredients:

  1. 1 tbsp Halim Seeds
  2. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  3. 4-5 mint leaves
  4. 1 tbsp honey
  5. Soda or sparkling water.
  6. Ice Water

Method

  1. In a bowl, add Halim seeds and water and let it soak for an hour.
  2. In a glass, add lemon juice and mint leaves and muddle them together
  3. Add honey and mix well.
  4. Add Halim seeds. Top it with soda and serve it chilled.
