You’ve always had rice pudding for dessert, ever thought of adding a healthy twist to the same, old pudding? Replace your boring white rice with the luxurious True Elements black rice to add that nourishing and flavorful zing. This delectable dessert made with whole-grain black rice, rich coconut milk and topped with toasted coconut is a little sweet and a little nutty. And hey, it’s also dairy-free and gluten-free which makes it suitable for all. Make this yummy treat for your guests and give them a healthy surprise!


  1. In a large saucepan, add 2 cups of water and bring it to boil.
  2. As the water boils add the black rice and coconut milk and simmer over medium heat.
  3. Cook uncovered till the rice gets tender for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. After 30 minutes, add the remaining ½ cup water as the rice tends to dry out.
  5. You can increase the quantity of water if you want a thinner consistency.
  6. After the rice is cooked well, add the raw honey and salt.
  7. The amount of honey can also be reduced for a less sweet version.
  8. Mix well and cook for a few more minutes.
  9. Now turn down the flame and spoon the hot pudding into a bowl.
  10. Use the toasted coconut flakes as a topping and enjoy this luxurious treat.


1 cup black rice (Chak-hao)
1 cup Fresh coconut milk
1/4 cup toasted coconut flakes
2 - 2 ½ cup Water- cups (depending on the consistency desired)
3 tbsp Raw Honey
Salt- as desired
