Nothing can be more comforting than a hearty, wholesome, and quick breakfast. The nutty texture and delectable taste of steel-cut oats make them perfect for just any recipe. Spruce up your mornings with this marvelous dish that will make you anticipate mornings once more.


1/2 cup Gluten-free Steel-cut Oats
1 Onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp Carrots chopped
2 tbsp Fresh peas
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
6-7 Curry leaves
1 pinch Asafoetida
5gm Green chilies
1 pinch Chilli flakes
1½ cup Water
2 tbsp Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
1 tbsp Oil
Salt as desired

Directions (For qty, refer to the ingredients section)

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. After the oil heats up, add mustard seeds and allow them to pop, followed by asafoetida and curry leaves.
  2. Add the True Elements steel cut oats and green chillies and lightly stir it over low heat. Add chopped onions, carrots and peas and cook for another 2 minutes.
  3. After the veggies are partially cooked, add water to it. Throw in the salt and chilli flakes. Mix it well and allow the mixture to come to a boil. Lower the flame and allow the mixture to be cooked for 5 more minutes. Stir continuously.
  4. The flame can be turned off at this moment. Serve with a garnish of fresh coriander leaves.
