Plastic Free Packaging

Plastic is the root cause of many environmental issues. Humans, animals and plants are affected by toxic pollutants due to plastic pollution. Some plastics take hundreds or even thousands of years to break down, causing long-lasting damage to the environment.

Initially, we launched this plastic-free option for customers in 2020. Due to certain constraints, we had to stop. But we are glad to bring it back from 5th June 2021.

Customers buying from the True Elements website can now opt to purchase products in plastic-free packaging.

If not plastic, then what will the packaging be?

The packs are a blend of Polylactic acid (PLA) & Poly Butylene Adipate-Co-Terephthalate (PBAT). Both are biodegradable polymers. The packets will be 100% biodegradable, i.e. they are decomposed naturally by bacteria so, they don’t cause any pollution.

What are Polylactic acid (PLA) & Poly Butylene Adipate-Co-Terephthalate (PBAT)?

They are thermoplastics that can be processed using most conventional polymer processing methods. PLA is obtained from plant-based resources, i.e. corn starch. They naturally degrade when exposed to the environment, unlike conventional plastics that take years to degrade. Likewise, PBAT is engineered to decompose, unlike other regular plastics made to last as long as possible.

Will this affect the food inside?

PLA and PBAT are toxic-free. They are used for food handling, so your food is completely safe and there won’t be any change in the quality. Since the packets are biodegradable, this can affect the shelf life of the products inside due to the oxidation process. Kindly transfer the food inside into an airtight jar/container to preserve it till the expiry date. Also, we will be sending you ONLY freshly packed products on order.
