Steel Cut Oats Upma

Bored of having your regular semolina upma? Try this delectable upma made with True Elements steel-cut oats that add the goodness of fibre to your regular upma. And for all those who do not like the sweet steel-cut oatmeal, this savory twist to your oats is just perfect. This yummy recipe is simply the best thing you’ll have for breakfast. And what’s more, it’ll energize you and keep you full for a very long time.

Ingredients

1 cup True Elements steel-cut oats

1/2 cup Mixed vegetables (you can use carrot, bell peppers, green peas)

1/2 Ginger, finely chopped

2 Green chilli

1/4 tsp Mustard seeds

8-10 Curry leaves

pinch Asafoetida

pinch Turmeric powder

1 tbsp Oil

Salt

1 ½ cup Water

Directions

1Cook the steel-cut oats in a pressure cooker up to 3 to 4 whistles. Allow the pressure cooker to cool.

2In a pan, heat the oil, add the mustard seeds and asafoetida powder. After the seeds splutter, add the green chillies, curry leaves, ginger and chopped vegetables.

3Now throw in the salt and turmeric powder and cover the vegetables and allow them to cook.

4Add the cooked steel-cut oats and toss to combine. Turn down the heat. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, add a few drops of lemon juice to add that zing and enjoy!
